Introduction
The course has been designed specifically for the benefit of Senior Project Managers and Engineers who are presently working on major capital multidisciplinary and multinational projects in the Middle East process and construction industry. We recognise that it is becoming increasingly more difficult for practicing Project Managers and Engineers to maintain their working knowledge of the many different management tools and techniques that appear to be introduced into the field of Project Management on an almost regular basis. It is also difficult for those Project Managers and Engineers that are detached from academic institutions to make the time available to evaluate and establish for themselves the real benefits afforded by the new commercially available software tools.
The course has been developed in order to address four key areas pertaining to the issues of improving awareness and knowledge of the more recent developments in Project Management.
Objectives
- To recognize and appreciate the potential benefits that can be obtained by applying efficient and effective management procedures tools and techniques to better understand project objectives, measures and delivery.
- To appreciate the impact of knowledge management within the project environment and the need to manage ‘knowledge’ over the project life cycle
- To appreciate the relative position of the project by contrast to National and International benchmarks
The major learning objectives resulting from the course have been identified as follows:-
Training Methodology
Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMI) recommended processes, tools, and techniques, oil and gas project management case studies, class exercises, team working, production of the business case and project plan, video, presentation and rapid response assessment based on a situational analysis.
