Electrical Protection System

Introduction

A comprehensive  5-days course covering the principles of power system protection. The course includes practical exercises and a ‘walk through’ the LV and HV system. It provides a very detailed introduction to essential protection principles at a level that does not require knowledge of complex numbers. It is designed to lead on to the Power Systems Protection: Part 2 course which takes delegates on to protection theory and calculations at a level that does involve complex numbers.

Objectives

    • Understand why protection is critical on electrical networks
    • Develop an understanding of protection systems for power assets
    • Understand the role of protection in network design
    • Develop an understanding of fault calculations
    • Be able to apply learnt skills directly in your place of work
    • Understand safety requirements in power network protection

Training Methodology

This is an interactive course. There will be open question and answer sessions, regular group exercises and activities, videos, case studies, and presentations on best practice. Participants will have the opportunity to share with the facilitator and other participants on what works well and not so well for them, as well as work on issues from their own organizations. The online course is conducted online using MS-Teams/ClickMeeting.
