Introduction
This course is for individuals who are acquiring a Property Management Certificate or Commercial Real Estate Certificate, or who want to better understand the basics of the real estate profession.
In this course:
- The student will learn about the role of the property manager, landlord policies, operational guidelines, leases, lease negotiations, tenant relations, maintenance, reports, habitability laws, and the Fair Housing Act.
- The participants will participate in property management case studies.
Objectives
- Discuss the agent/owner relationship.
- Describe the types of leasehold estates and elements of a valid lease.
- Explain ways in which the landlord-tenant relationship can be terminated.
- Demonstrate application of Fair Housing Laws as they apply to real estate.

Training Methodology
This is an interactive course. There will be open question and answer sessions, regular group exercises and activities, videos, case studies, and presentations on best practices. Participants will have the opportunity to share with the facilitator and other participants what works well and not so well for them, as well as work on issues from their own organizations. The online course is conducted online using MS-Teams/ClickMeeting.
